Planning Specialist

South Central Planning & Development Commission is seeking a Planning Specialist with knowledge/experience in planning and its principals, grant writing, GIS, and technical reporting.  The Planning Specialist position is included in Planning Department and performs a variety of duties in carrying out the objectives and projects undertaken by this Department.  The projects include but are not limited to contracted projects by the Federal, State, and Local governments, special projects on behalf of the Commission and or a member jurisdiction, and any other special projects requested by the Chief Planning Officer (CPO) or the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).   The position involves professional-level duties and judgment, good communication skills, good computer skills, routine administrative tasks, occasional field work, and works well with the public and office personnel.  The Planning Specialist is one who is capable of managing particular tasks with limited supervision from the CPO and will usually operate within the Planning Department that is responsible for the development and coordination of activities related to a project, grant, or contract.   The position is an hourly employee with permanent status.  The individual should possess a high school diploma as a minimum and have 5 years’ minimum similar work experience, or possess an Associate’s Degree from and accredited University.    Salary will be approximately $17-$24 an hour depending on experience.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Due to the inability to meet quorum requirements in person, the Revolving Loan Board for South Central Planning & Development Commission, Inc., will meet on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. via video conference call (info on website) in direct response to Governor Edward’s proclamation (JBE-2020-27 Section 5) allowing softened open meeting considerations amidst the declared COVID 19/Corona “Stay Home Order and Business Closures”.  Anyone requiring reasonable accommodation is requested to contact South Central Planning & Development Commission, Inc. three days in advance of the meeting at (985) 851-2900 to discuss the particular accommodations needed and ensure no more than ten (10) people attend.
