BAYOU LAFOURCHE HOME SEWERAGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) obtained a Gulf of Mexico Program grant to fix home sewage systems. South Central Planning and Development Commission (SCPDC) will contract with and reimburse eligible residents. Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District (BLFWD) will visit residential sites to identify broken systems.

WHERE? This program is being provided to homeowners in parts of Ascension, Assumption and Lafourche parishes along the Bayou Lafourche corridor. HOW?

The reimbursement program is simple:

• Once BLFWD identifies a broken system, they will refer those homeowners to SCPDC for financial assistance.
• A licensed contractor will provide an estimate for the repair work and fix the system.
• SCPDC will re-inspect to make sure all work was done.
• Reimbursements pay 100% of the first $1,000, then 50% up to $4,000 in costs incurred by homeowners.
