South Central Planning & Development Commission is accepting resumes for a Combination Inspector. The main duty of the Inspector is to perform on-site inspections to verify compliance with the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code. The candidate must possess good communication & computer skills, a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, as well as be able to work independently. The candidate must also be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical. Inspectors must periodically be available for 24 hr on call services. This position may also be called upon to assist with duties related to post declared emergencies. The individual should possess a high school diploma and some certifications as a minimum. The ideal candidate would meet Louisiana State certification requirements for both Residential and Commercial Inspections. The Inspector position is a full-time, hourly position with permanent status and fringe benefits. Benefits include retirement, health/dental/vision/life insurance, paid holidays, vacation & sick leave. Starting pay will be approximately $30.00 – $50.00 per hour depending on qualification level and experience. SCPDC is an EOE/AAE.

South Central Planning & Development Commission is accepting resumes for multiple Plans Examiner positions to work remotely or to be located at our Houma or Baton Rouge offices if preferred. The main duty of the Plans Examiner is to review plans and verify compliance with the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code. The candidate must possess good communication and computer skills, as well as be able to work independently. The individual should possess a high school diploma and some Plan Review certifications as a minimum. The ideal candidate would meet Louisiana State certification requirements for both Residential and Commercial Plan Reviews. The Plans Examiner position is a full-time salaried position with permanent status and fringe benefits. Benefits include retirement, health/dental/vision/life insurance, paid holidays, vacation &sick leave. Starting pay will be approximately $60,000 – $120,000 annually depending on qualification level and experience. SCPDC is an EOE/ AAE.

Public Notice: Employment Opportunity – Communication Specialist
South Central Planning & Development Commission is seeking a Communication Specialist at its Houma location. Duties include, but are not limited to fielding customer calls, scheduling inspections, and overseeing the departments timesheet entry & submittal. This position will also assist with purchase request for the department. This position involves professional-level service and judgement, good communication skills, good computer skills, routine administrative tasks, works well with the public and coordinates well with office personnel. The individual should possess a high school diploma as a minimum and have 4 years’ minimum similar work experience, or possess an Associate’s Degree from an accredited University. Knowledge of permitting process and/or experience related to permitting a plus. This is a full-time, hourly position with permanent status and fringe benefits. Starting pay will be approximately $18.50 – $21.00 an hour depending on experience. Benefits include retirement, health/dental/vision/life insurance, paid holidays, vacation & sick leave.
