LWI Extends Round 2 Deadline to May 31, offers Technical Assistance Sessions
The Louisiana Watershed Initiative is extending the deadline to submit pre-applications for Round 2 project funding to May 31. The extended deadline will allow more time to help applicants submit their project pre-applications.
LWI is hosting technical assistance sessions for eligible applicants in each region as listed below. To sign up for an in-person, one-on-one session, click here or email watershed@la.gov. There are virtual sessions available as well, with times and dates listed below.

About the Louisiana Watershed Initiative
Gov. John Bel Edwards established the Council on Watershed Management in 2018, which serves as the coordinated, interagency organization at the state level for watershed-based flood risk reduction. The Louisiana Watershed Initiative serves as the Council’s programmatic arm under which all related efforts operate.

South Central Planning & Development Commission is seeking a Planner with knowledge/experience in planning and its principals, grant writing, GIS, and technical reporting. Responsibilities include writing and management of Federal, State, and Local Grants. Other responsibilities may include management of special projects on behalf of the Commission and its member jurisdictions. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, have the ability to work effectively with local, state, and federal officials, interest groups, and the general public. This position may require public speaking, attendance of night meetings and travel. Minimum qualifications should include a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Business, or a related field. Prior parish, municipal or regional experience a plus. Salary range: $40,000 – $79,800 to be commensurate with experience and education. SCPDC is an EOE/AAE.

Public Notice: Employment Opportunity – Assistant Field Manager
Job opening: Assistant Field Manager
South Central Planning & Development Commission is seeking an Assistant Field Manager for its state wide Small Business Recovery loan programs. The main responsibility of the Assistant Field Manager is to provide direct oversight of designated outreach centers throughout the state. This includes overseeing staff productivity & loan application intake workflow, as well as staff schedules at those locations. These assistant managers are responsible for understanding and implementing state & federal programmatic guidelines. Responsibilities also include assisting the managers with promoting the small business recovery loan programs to local businesses and overseeing lease requirements for those specified outreach centers. This position may be called upon to attend and assist in making presentations at public meetings. Minimum qualifications should include a High School Diploma with at least 5 years’ experience with similar governmental programs. Prior parish, municipal or regional experience a plus. Knowledge of business lending is also a plus. These positions are full- time temporary, salaried position with fringe benefits. Benefits include retirement, health/dental/vision/life insurance, paid holidays, vacation & sick leave. Starting Pay will be approximately $67,600 – $85,000 annually depending on qualification level and experience.
