2019-20 Traffic Safety Contest

  1. How are the meme graphics going to be used? Are they going to be printed on the back of trucks like last year, used on social media, or some other way?    
  2. Are the designs going to be used horizontally or vertically?
  3. In the Guidelines it says “Art Pixel Dimensions: 1400×400 pixels (OR BETTER)” what does the or better part mean?
  4. What does SCPDC define as a meme?
  5.  How will I know that you received my image or video?

***Answers***

  1. Via social media primarily. However, if we are able to acquire funding for additional means of marketing, we will utilize them in other ways.
  2. Designs will be used both horizontally and vertically
  3. Since this was an error, no memes will be disqualified. 
  4. Definition of a meme: An element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation. An idea, behavior, or style that spreads by means of imitation from person to person within a culture—often with the aim of conveying a particular phenomenon, theme, or meaning represented by the meme.

CONTEST GOALS

  1. Encourage teenage drivers & riders to advocate for safe driving decisions.
  2. Allow teenagers to become the voice of positive messaging in their respective schools, churches and communities.
  3. Heighten involvement from parents and teachers to motivate youth to drive responsibly and safely and become an advocate for traffic safety.
  4. Provide students the opportunity to bring out their creativity and resourcefulness while fostering comradeship on and off campus.
  5. Create a safety culture among teens through peer-to peer dialogue and activities.

ELIGIBILITY

Traffic Safety Meme & Video Contest (the “Contest”) is open to legal residents that are high school students (9th-12th grade) enrolled in an accredited school in one of the following parishes: Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, and Terrebonne. The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
