The ATV committee meets every month. It meets the third Thursday of the month. It alternates between Troop C and SCPDC at 10:15 am.
The South Central Safe Community Task Force was originally established through a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission in October 1999. This is the fifth year of funding of the program through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. The Task Force was developed for the express purpose of establishing a Safe Community Fund, Action Plan and Media Campaign designed to focus on highway safety needs in the South Central Region of Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist and Terrebonne.
The Safe Community approach is one way to get concerned citizens together to promote traffic fatality and injury prevention activities at the local level.
The Task Force administers sub-grants. The sub-grants will be used to help sustain successful community and non-profit agencies whose purpose matches the priorities of the Action Plan and which are in need of alternative funding sources to continue their efforts. They may also be used to assist in the creation of new efforts that will focus on priority areas presently not addressed by existing programs.
