Assumption Parish is located just east of the central coastal region of South Louisiana. It is defined by its proximity to the Mississippi River industrial corridor to the north and the strong oil and gas industry to the south at the Gulf of Mexico. Assumption is populated by approximately 23,000 industrious citizens who value the area's balance of work and recreational opportunities. With strong cultural ties to its French and Spanish heritage, Assumption is a place of tradition with centuries-old buildings very much in use today.
